Fullfilling His Promises (Luke 12:13-34)

In the present day it is easy to hold a standard of perfection. What I mean by that is, it's easy to strive to be the Pinterest-worthy person that has life completely figured out. It is easy to aim at having the perfect modern home, all the newest style clothes, and to have the perfect body everyone dreams of. It's easy to think that once you have all these things, that you will be considered "worthy.” But worthy to who? The world? Yourself? Definitely not God.

Striving to have a life that equals perfection is draining, stressful, and hopeless. There is nothing about this life that will ever be perfect. So, why are we all striving for "worthiness" when Jesus tells us in Luke chapter twelve verse thirty-one and thirty-two that if we seek the kingdom of God, things will be given to us. God is pleased to give you the kingdom.

Jesus told his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes" (Luke 12:22-23). Jesus explained to them how miraculous God is and if he can feed all the animals of the world which don't have a barn and grow beautiful wildflowers, then what makes you think that God cannot fulfill his promises to you?

"If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you-you of little faith" - Luke 12:28

God tells the sun when to rise and fall, he rages a storm then calms it, he tells the ocean where to meet the shore, and he moves mountains that otherwise to us feel impossible. So tell me what purpose there is in trying to obtain perfection?

God knows what you need but you must first seek his kingdom and his righteousness to receive it. He will fulfill his promises to his children and those who follow Jesus will have abundant life (John 10:10).

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." - Matthew 6:34

Do not worry about having the perfect Pinterest-worthy life, don't stress because you have no money, don't fear that your life isn't completely figured out. God has greater plans for our life than we could ever envision. Don't stress about those bills that feel impossible to pay, that girl/boy that won't seem to give you the attention you're looking for (their probably not all that great anyway), the weight that just won't seem to come off, the depression that is eating you alive, or the addiction that seems impossible to fight. Follow God and he will provide. You are worthy, you matter, you are beautiful, and you are promised. You are something worth fighting for.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" - Jeremiah 29:11

His promises

God promises that all things will work out for the good of his children in Romans 8:28, comfort in our trials in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, to finish the work that he started in Philippians 1:6, new life in 2 Corinthians 5:17, a long with so many more.
